Tomb Raider: Anniversary was one of Angelina Jolie’s first big roles and the action-packed film thrust her into near-blandry land and branded her as a powerful lady capable of tackling tough dude films. The movie turned out to be a box office smash and Jolie, who played her first non-topscore role, enjoyed an eight-year career that would end with four more films. Let’s look at them.
Tomb Raider: Anniversary is the first installment of the horror filmials of Tomb Raider. Angelina Jolie is back as Tomb Raider in a new chapter. The heroine this time is the daughter from a wealthy family living in Los Angeles. She assumes the role as protector after her best friend is murdered and searches for her personal guru who can help her find her father.
Tomb Raider Anniversary continues the story of the original video game. It picks up just after the events in the second game and allows us to revisit our ‘protector’ duties. The plot centers around the evil plans of a group scientists trying to create a videogame using cloning. Angelina is now required to play the role as the hero of humanity, rather than being a normal gamer. You’ll enjoy Anniversary if you liked Tomb Raider. It includes cut scenes from the original game.
Tomb Raider: After Rise 3 is the third installment of the Tomb Raider saga. Angelina Jolie plays the role of the heroine. This time, we see that with the help of a mysterious video game (not this one, though) she’s able to save the world instead of just her own life. While the story is similar to the original, this game adds some interesting twists. Tomb Raider: After Rise stars Angelina Jolie as the lead character, along with Dylan O’Brien and Ki Hong Lee, and Dexter Darden.
While it isn’t necessary to actually know anything about the first Tomb Raider game before watching the sequel, most people who played the original know how difficult and cerebral the first game was. Tomb Raider 2: After Rise is a sequel that retains the appeal of the original, but still makes it enjoyable for modern fans. Because the film continues the familiar science fiction tale that has been told so many times, it’s easy to understand why. For someone who grew up reading science fiction, it’s easy to understand why this type of movie would become such a hit.
A good example of this is that Tomb Raider started as something that all kids were talking about. The first movie involved a team of researchers that were searching for a mythical metal called “The orb”. They needed it to activate an energy portal that would take them to safety, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to find it in time. Because of this failure, the team members were stranded on an alien planet with no means of travel. Because of their limited means, they had to rely on others for survival until help could arrive.
Although the main story line of the film revolved around a science fiction adventure, the lead character of Angelina Jolie certainly didn’t let that rule out of her mind when casting her movie role. Despite having small roles in previous science fiction flicks, Angelina Jolie seemed like she was completely prepared for her role in the first Tomb raider video game. It may have just been a small role, but to someone who was unaware of the role ahead of time, it seemed like she was a perfect fit. It also made perfect sense that Angelina Jolie was perfect for the part of Lara Croft, given her own background and relationship with the Tomb raider franchise prior to this film.
It did not help Tomb Raider’s story and is likely why Angelina Jolie was chosen to play the leading role. The film was good for her as she was able channel her frustrations and anger into one of her best acting performances. The movie did not do well at the box office but it did bring in a lot of money thanks to its marketing and ticket sales. In the end, it can be said that Angelina Jolie delivers another great performance as the foul-tempered and slightly annoying tomb raider.
